We embark on a mission to provide Sight to the blind!

India is a developing country and we are making tremendous progress in every field and are competing with the world in all the fields. Yet, we are far behind in a lot of small things that matter the most. To count an example is the Corneal Blindness. We are about to become the most populated country in the world and so is with respect to the population of blind people.

There are millions of people in India with corneal blindness and thousands of people on the waiting list to receive their corneas. Continuing at the same pace, we are decades away from eliminating the Blindness from the country. This lack of supply and demand is due to very less knowledge among the public for eye donation. To tackle these issues, we have certain objectives that are part of our everyday work. Here’s a look into that.

Educate

Humanity is with all of us. We can always do better every day and so is the Eye Donation, a greater thing before we leave this world. But a lot of people have not been able to do the same. It is because of the lack of knowledge about the donation. We as part of our objectives want to educate people about the divine benefits, process, and myths surrounding it to the general public.

Process

The process of cornea transplant from one person to another is a very sophisticated process. Our Eye Bank is equipped to handle the complete range of operations and surgical procedures to transfer cornea from donor to recipient and also transfer to recipients in other eye hospitals.

Enlist Donors

There are a lot of people who are ready to donate their eyes after their demise. Lions International Eye Bank maintains the list, records of the pledged donors. As per the waiting list of the recipients, the cornea is either transplanted or transported to be transplanted.
